William Joppy will be "Tito" Trinidad's next opponent.

January 11, 2001 -- William Joppy you're next.

On the path to Roy Jones Jr., several boxers stand in the way of Felix "Tito" Trinidad.  If everything goes according to plans, William Joppy will be the next to face the undefeated warrior from Puerto Rico.

The date of the fight is set tentatively for April 21st or May 5th and will be for the WBA middleweight title.

"At first they told us [Trinidad's camp] that Tito would not be available until June or July to fight, said Steve Nelson, co-manager of William Joppy, but now they told us that those two dates are acceptable"

Confirmed by Joppy's manager and Don Felix, Tito's manager and trainer, the fight will be aired on HBO and could possible be held at Madison Square Garden, NYC.

William Joppy is an active fighter with a solid record, 32-1 23 KOs, and last fought on the undercard of the Trinidad-Vargas fight against Jonathan Reed.  A fight which Joppy impressively knocked out Reed in the 4th round. Referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight as Reed was no match for the speed and power of Joppy.

Joppy's team mention if the fight is delayed until June or July, that William Joppy will probably take a fight before then as a tune up.
