"I'm faster than he is, I'm stronger than he is. And I'm more handsome than him." claims Javier Castillejo.
The relatively unknown Castillejo, became the WBC super welterweight champion (154 pounds) when he won a split decision against Keith Mullings back in 1999. Now he will meet his toughest opponent yet in former champion, Oscar De La Hoya. "It's going to be a great match. I am looking forward to defending my WBC super welterweight title against Oscar De La Hoya" said Castillejo. De La Hoya will be attempting to win a world title in a fifth weight class, which would achieve one of his many goals. "It's a big deal," he said, and hopes to move up to the middleweight division (160) in the near future to perhaps meet Tito Trinidad. De La Hoya, who is now trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr., is eager to become champion again and wants a rematch with Trinidad or Mosely -- the only two who have defeated De La Hoya. But if De La Hoya is looking past Castillejo, he might be in for a
surprise. Castillejo has an impressive record at 54-4, 32 KOs and
has defended his title successfully five times. He is always in the gym,
constantly training and in excellent shape. The match will take place at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas: 3799 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Prices are $100, $250, $300, $500 and $800. All prices does not include a service charge. Written by Nelson Ortiz
